The Living Matrix: Why True Healing Can’t Be Separated Into Pieces

Although the term ‘fascia’ was in use as early as the 17th century, it is a relatively new area of research. In the 19th and 20th century, as anatomists continued to understand the function of the soft tissue and organs, fascia was discarded as it obstructed their view and appeared to be nothing more than ‘passive packaging’ to what was considered the more functional muscle tissue.

However, researchers now recognise that fascia works alongside the other body systems as an important sensory organ with numerous, significant roles. Today, science is still at the very beginning of understanding this vast, interconnected system that appears to play a vital role in the human body.
